This BookWyrm instance is privately operated for family and close friends. Protecting user privacy is a core goal of this server. What data is collected This instance stores only the data necessary to operate the service, including: Account information (username, email address) Reading activity (books, shelves, reviews, comments) Profile information you choose to provide Technical logs required for basic operation and security How data is used Your data is used solely to provide BookWyrm functionality, including: Displaying your reading activity to permitted users Enabling federation with other BookWyrm and ActivityPub-compatible servers (where applicable) Maintaining the security and stability of the service Data is not sold, shared for advertising, or used for tracking or profiling. Federation This instance participates in the fediverse. Public posts and profile information may be shared with other federated servers according to ActivityPub standards. Private content remains private to this instance. Be aware that content shared with other servers is subject to those servers’ own privacy practices. Email Email addresses are used only for account-related purposes such as notifications, password resets, or administrative communication. They are not shared with third parties. Data retention and removal Because this is a private, small-scale instance, data is retained as long as accounts remain active. Users may request account deletion from the administrator, at which point associated data will be removed where technically feasible. Administration This instance is administered by a private individual, not a company. Reasonable care is taken to protect data, but no guarantees are made beyond standard best practices for a self-hosted service.
