Timothy Snyder takes about 100 essays over a handful of ideas to form what Freedom is and what Freedom isn't. He has stories about his youth where he realizes he was really free, to stories about war torn Ukraine and it's residents.
He's critical of oligarchs and politicians as they are not often doing enough. He makes a case that freedom is required for our survival.
